I'm so excited about becoming a mom! Feel free to contact me anytime. Below are some quick facts about me. You can click on the links to go to my photo collage pages if you'd like to read my story in pictures or click here to go directly to my "Dear Birthmother" letter. |
About Me: I am 41 years old and ready to be a mom. I was born in St. Louis, but moved to Tulsa (where my dad was raised) when I was 4. I attended Catholic school for 12 years, and after my high school graduation, attended the University of Kansas where I completed a bachelor's degree in journalism. My career has taken me to live in Kansas City, St. Louis and Indianapolis before returning to my hometown of Tulsa. I love Tulsa because it's not too small and it's not too big. I have an 7-year-old golden retriever named Rudy. He has been with me since he was 10 weeks old. I love animals, all kinds, do my best to help protect them. My philosophy in life is "Do the right thing, even when it might not be popular." My dad lived by this theory and it worked well for him. I am a proud American who has a lot of respect for the men and women who have fought for our country. I consider myself extremely organized (I'm a list maker), in good health and a fun-loving individual. I have the honor of being a godmother to five kids, all of whom I have a strong relationship. My friends are amazing and loyal. If I can say one good thing about myself, it's that I pick friends wisely. They have and always will be a strong support system. |
Where I Live: I live in an established neighborhood called Maple Ridge. My street is lined with mature trees, flowers in the spring, lots of children and dogs and everyone helps each other out when help is needed. On Halloween, the streets are closed so that families can walk freely down the street to trick or treat. Some families create Haunted Houses for the kids to go through and everyone is laughing and having a great time. The neighborhood is historic so all the homes have different looks to them. My house is a bungalow that was built in 1915. It has been completely updated and I feel like I have made it into a cozy dwelling space for me, my dog and hopefully soon, a baby. I have three bedrooms, one bathroom, a dining and living area and a nice-size kitchen. There is a large deck in the back with a nice-size yard shaded by trees. My favorite part of the house is the front porch complete with rocking chairs and plants in the spring and summer. Many a day I have sat on the porch with my nephews playing games and talking with neighbors. |
| Where I Work: I am currently serving as a marketing manager for Red Bull North America, Inc. I am fortunate in that I get to work from home which allows me quite a bit of flexibility throughout the day. Red Bull is a family-oriented company which understands children come first. I have been with them for almost 9 years and have developed many friendships with colleagues who are so excited about my decision to adopt. |
| About My Children: I do not have any children of my own yet, but I have five Godchildren that I love with all my heart! |
| My Religious Beliefs: I was raised Roman Catholic and continue to practice my faith. I belong to a small parish which includes an elementary school of which my sister is the principal. The church family is tight-knit and extremely supportive of its members. There are several families that have children through adoption. I attend Mass every Sunday and sometimes help my sister out by volunteering at the school. It is where I would like to see my child attend because the student to teacher ratio is about 13-1. |
| Things I Like to Do: I enjoy being with friends and family and almost every weekend is spent at someone's house grilling out and watching the kids play. I enjoy going to sporting events (college sports are my favorite). I love to read and my house is filled with books and magazines. I love to go to used bookstores to find older books for my shelves. My dog, Rudy, is a great joy to have around. We take walks everyday to a nearby park and play in the backyard. He loves being around my young nephews and is very gentle and kind to them. I try to workout a few times a week at a local gym that provides childcare while parents are using the facility. Volunteering has always been a big part of my life and I currently sit on the board of directors for the local SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). Working around the house and attending my nephew's basketball and soccer games are what keeps me busy on the weekend, and in the summer I go to the lake with my sister's family for some relaxing time away from home. |
My Extended Family: I have two sisters, one younger and one older. My younger sister lives in Tulsa, about a mile from my house. She and her husband have two boys, Noah (2) and Brody (5). I spend a lot of time with their family and talk to them at least once a day.
My older sister lives in St. Louis with her husband and their three kids: Chip (17), Grace (14) and Will (9). It has been so much fun watching these three grow up.
My dad passed away in November 2008, and my mom now splits her time between St. Louis and Tulsa in order to spend a lot of time with her grandchildren. She is a doting grandma who helped both my sisters with childcare when their kids were born. She is committed to helping me, as well.
I have 10 cousins, 7 on my mom's side and 3 on my dad's. A lot of them live in St. Louis so when I go back to visit for family functions and holidays, the group can be pretty big. We are a loud, funny and caring family who, like most families, has its up and downs. But, we love each othe very much and continue to support each other on a daily basis. |
Why I Hope To Adopt: I have always thought that adoption would be route I would take to create my family. I have been thinking about this for quite a long time, and one day I woke up and said "now is the time".
I want to adopt because I love children. There is no greater feeling in the world to have a little boy or girl rely on you to take care of them. I want to be able to pass along the family traditions and values that my parents taught me. But most importantly, I want to be able to love someone unconditionally and without judgement and to watch this little person grow up and contribute to society. |
Dear Birth Mother,
When people ask me why, as a single woman, do I want to adopt a baby, I give them a very simple answer…because my entire life I’ve dreamed of being a mom. From the time I was a little girl playing with dolls to my years in college when I dreamed of finding my soulmate with whom I would start a family, having children and raising them in a loving, secure home was what I always wanted.
Somewhere between graduation and now, my life’s path took a turn and I found myself building a career instead of building a family. I have always known that adoption would be in my future, but I wanted to make sure that the timing was right and that I was ready.
That time has come.
My name is Christina, and I can’t thank you enough for considering me as a potential mother for your baby. I cannot begin to understand the emotions you are going through, I won’t even try. What I do understand is that you are a brave and strong woman to make this decision and to offer your child the opportunity to grow up in a loving and caring family.
There is so much to tell you about me and my family. I am one of three girls, the middle child in fact, and I am extremely close to both my younger and older sibling. My parents raised us according to the Golden Rule - do unto others as you would have them do to you – and I try to live by that every day. My younger sister, her husband and their two boys live less than a mile from me. I see them at least 3-4 times a week and attend all of my nephew’s soccer and basketball games. We have a close circle of friends who all have children, and I can’t wait to add one more to the group. They have all been extremely supportive of my decision to adopt and have already offered to help out when I am blessed with a baby!
My older sister and her three children live in St. Louis, along with my extended family of aunts and uncles. I visit there about 4-5 times a year and the family gatherings are large and filled with laughter and love.
My dad passed away 15 months ago. I miss him everyday, but based on the values he taught me and the dignity with which he led his life, I trust that he continues to guide me and watch over me. Since his death, my mom has dedicated her life to spending all her time with her three girls. She is the best grandma a child could ask for. She has helped both of my sisters with childcare when their kids were born and is looking forward to doing the same for me when my bundle of joy arrives.
I am the godmother to five children: my nephew Chip (17), my nephew Brody (5), Parker (9), Caroline (7) and Anna (6). I dote on every single one of them and look forward to the time I spend with them.
Rudy, my golden retriever, and I invite you to learn more about us by clicking the link below. I have so much love to give a child and promise you that if you choose me, I will provide a loving, stable and fun environment from the moment he or she is born.
